JL Dance alumni
Libby Storrow
Libby trained at JL from 2014 to 2021, loved Modern and Ballet, passed her Intermediate Ballet and Modern exams, and is now back at JL as a teacher.
Favourite memory
Shows, competitions and time together
Any show time or comps where we all got to spend time together. Jacob and I would sit and eat Skittles and laugh until we cried in our breaks.
Proud moments
Exams and stepping into teaching
Libby felt proud of passing her Intermediate Ballet and Modern exams, and of becoming part of the staff team as a dance teaching assistant.
When Libby hears JL Dance
Inclusive, friendly and supportive
Those were the words Libby chose when asked what comes to mind: inclusion, friendly and warm, supportive.
Feeling welcome
A less daunting move
Libby said the staff instantly made her feel welcome and supported in class, making the transition into JL feel less daunting.
She also remembers how staff made time to support the teams and friendships within them. In Libby's words: "I have made friends for life in JL."
Now
Occupational therapy and teaching at JL
Libby has completed her occupational therapy degree and is now back at JL as a teacher.
When she was at university, she would drive past the studio when she was home and remember how much she loved the job.
Advice to younger dancers
Have faith in yourself
Have more faith in yourself, and never stop being kind to everyone. In years to come, you will need to be the bravest you have ever been, but you will always have your dance friends and your dance family to catch you, so keep them close.
