Our bank details have changed, due to local branch closing down JL has moved banks. We still have access to our old account and will be able to retrieve any bank transfers for quite a while, so please don’t worry if you’ve paid into the old account recently.

Our new details are: HSBC Bank, JLDance, 40-19-15, 94449703, please use this account for all payments. (Keeping payments separate with an appropriate reference for each payment will be very helpful too!)

A lot has happened since our last newsletter!

English Youth Ballet! Emily Hallott, Louis Gillespie and Aimee Barker all performed in Aurora’s Wedding and Ballet Etudes at the Buxton Opera House on the 19th and 20th of October. A great achievement from all three! EYB’s Miss Lewis picked out Emily and Louis posting on Facebook: “-The Junior prize went to Emily Hallott whose concentration and performance throughout the project was outstanding.”, and “-My Special Prize went to young Louis Gillespie who has special talent with great stage presence.” Just amazing feedback! Well done guys, you made JL proud!

Midlands Festival! JLDance’s Senior Modern troupe ‘Cats’ brought home the Winner’s Trophy with a whopping 89 marks at the Midlands Dance Festival: Troupe Championships 2018! The competition was close, several other troupes were hot on their heels with 88 marks, one of which was JL’s Inter Tap troupe ‘Baggy Trousers’! Over the day 130 troupes from 8 different schools competed for 31 trophies, and JL brought home 9! An awesome result for all of our dancers! Place or not, we’re proud of every single student that steps onto a stage to perform or compete under the JL Banner! Well done to absolutely everybody that took part!

We’ve had exam results come in! And while all the students have been given their results we just wanted to take another opportunity to say well done and say how proud we are of the results! 100% pass rate yet again, with a high proportion of Merits and Distinctions! This was great news to start the new term on a high as we began setting new show routines!

Last month we had another famous guest visit our studio! Strictly Come Dancing’s Kristina Rihanoff visited to deliver workshops in Latin and Ballroom Dancing! We hope that everyone who attended enjoyed the visit! We’ve had lots of good feedback about the day! Already planning for 2019 and 2020, we’re excited about the visits and trips we’re working to get lined up!

A huge well done to Layla Woodall, Maisie Woodall, Olivia Sewell and Grace Tyler, who competed at the 2018 Grandson Clark National Awards in Milton Keynes last week! Before the festival, these four students had the opportunity to show their routines to their class mates before the start of lessons, the routines got such a warm reception the rest of the students wanted to give National a go!
Seeing as Ballet is French and this year’s Juvenile Ballet troupe is set to a Scottish theme, so we gave them an opportunity to try! (Sticking to the relevant steps of course, as there’s a good overlap between Ballet syllabus and some of the steps taught in the earlier levels of National) and everyone had a fab time! We’re glad that National made such a good impression, it’s a fantastic genre that supports lots of other styles of Dance!

Tap Dance World Championships in Germany… you may have already heard (but we can’t not mention it in this newsletter!) Savannah Wilmott and her Tap Trio partners from the Tap Attack Junior Associates not only earned themselves a place in the finals, they then proceeded to place third and bring home a Bronze Medal! So one more massive well done to Savannah! We have no doubt that this amazing news will inspire other students to dream about what they could achieve themselves!

Finally, a quick thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Christmas Mini Market last weekend! We’re pleased to say that this one was the busiest yet! Thank you to those who were able to bring a stall with some Christmas Gifts to sell! We’re looking forward to making the event even better for next year!

That’s it for this one,
Any questions please get in touch! info@jldance.co.uk

Take care everyone!
