Commitment:
Students must commit to the dress rehearsals date and both show dates in full, partial participation is not possible.
Students should strive for 100% attendance in their chosen classes. Absences may result in missing out on newly choreographed segments, i.e. if you’re missing from the class, you won’t be included any choreography that is set during that specific lesson.
Costs Involved:
- Dress Rehearsal and Finale T-Shirt Fee:
- £35.00 per student, invoiced post opt-in, non-refundable.
- Make-up: Uniform stage make-up:
- Please see this page for details: https://jldance.co.uk/show-hair-and-make-up/
- Accessories:
- Typically include items already owned as part of general dance kits, such as Shimmer Tights, Satin Tights, Jazz Shoes, Satin Ballet Shoes, Seamless Underwear, Hair Grips, Hair Nets, Plain Black Trainers (for the finale), and Black Leggings or JL Leggings (also finale).
- Unless instructed otherwise, all base accessories / shoes etc must by the same as we provide at the studio – if you get the wrong type you’ll be asked to purchase the correct ones before the show. (You are welcome to purchase your own from elsewhere, but these must be the exact same style/brand/colour as your team).
- Costumes:
- One per routine, usually provided by JLDance. Sometimes students may need to source costumes or parts thereof, as directed. Prompt payment is essential upon finalising costume prices. No costumes will be distributed without full payment.
Price averages based on 2022/23 Showcase:
- Teenies, Mini’s and Juveniles: ~£35.00 per costume.
- Juniors: ~£45.00 per costume.
- Inters and Seniors: ~£60.00 per costume.
Please budget for these estimates plus additional margin. Expect to purchase one costume per dance style (e.g., Tap, Modern, Lyrical = 3 costumes).
All costumes are non-refundable. Opting-in commits you to pay for any costumes ordered on your behalf. Consider these costs before committing to the showcase.
Questions or uncertainties? Please don’t hesitate to ask!”
On the Day:
- Student Check-In:
- All students must be signed in and out by JLDance Staff and Dressers upon arrival and departure on Dress Rehearsal and Show Days.
- Food and Drink:
- We advise bringing a packed lunch, drinks, and snacks. Please ensure they are non-staining, nut-free, and drinks should have lids to prevent spills.
- Personal Items:
- Students may bring entertainment items for backstage use between routines and performances. However, these items should not have the potential to stain or damage costumes.
- Showcase Recording:
- The Show on Sunday will be professionally recorded. We request no unauthorised photography or video recording from the audience at any performance.
General Points:
- Label Everything:
- Please label all items including costumes, shoes, accessories, lunch boxes, bottles, costume hangers, and bags.
- Costume Care:
- Costumes should only be used for performances, not for general dancing or fancy dress. Replacements near showtime are difficult, so keep them clean and undamaged.
- Personal Belongings:
- Items brought backstage are at the owner’s risk. JLDance is not responsible for any loss or damage.
- Dance Genres:
- We recommend students in the Juvenile group and above study at least 2-3 dance genres. Focusing on a single routine in each show requires significant commitment.
- Hot Food Run:
- Organised annually by our amazing Dressers, details about the hot food run will be communicated closer to the show.
- Backstage Access:
- Only staff and Dressers are allowed backstage. Adults, other than these designated personnel, are strictly prohibited from entering this area.
- Communication:
- We strive to provide information promptly and clearly. General and important updates (e.g., costume prices, collection dates, required accessories) will be shared as soon as confirmed. Information will sometimes go on Facebook, if you’re not on Facebook, you may miss last minute or impromptu information which does not go onto a formal email.
- Dressers:
- Volunteers are essential for smooth backstage operations. Dressers will be assigned show responsibilities to ensure everyone has an opportunity to sit and enjoy the performance. If you’re interested in being part of the Dressers team, please register your interest with Gill at reception and we will invite you to help if needed. Please note: Dressers are typically assigned to multiple children and may not work directly with their own child.
- Keep updated:
- Ensure you’ve thoroughly read all the information provided. If you have questions now or at any point, please ask! It’s also handy to make sure “info@jldance.co.uk” is marked as a trusted sender in your inbox, and that you have the Class Manager Portal app installed on your phone.
Our annual show is a school highlight and a pinnacle event in our students’ dance journey.
