Discovery is a relaxed, no-exam dance class for children in Years 3 to 6, including beginners, quieter children and dancers who want a friendly way to build confidence. Each 45-minute session blends different styles, routines and skills without the pressure of graded training.
Discovery runs for 45 minutes and blends a variety of styles, routines and skills each week, so dancers get a fresh mix rather than following one formal syllabus. It is a friendly, sociable class where children can try dance, learn routines and build confidence without exams, grades or pressure to perform before they are ready.
Discovery is a lovely standalone class as well as a gentle way into our wider timetable. Some children stay simply because they enjoy it, while others use it as a stepping stone before moving into individual genre classes such as Modern Jazz, Commercial Street Dance or Musical Theatre.
No specific uniform is needed for Discovery. Comfortable clothes you can move freely in and trainers or dance sneakers are perfect.
Yes. Discovery is a good fit for quieter or less confident children because the class is relaxed, friendly and not built around exams.
Yes. Complete beginners are welcome, including children who are starting dance later than some of their friends.
No. Discovery is booked half term by half term, so it is a low-commitment way to try dance regularly without signing up long-term.
No. Discovery does not work towards exams. It is simply a fun, varied class, though dancers are welcome to move into exam-track classes later if they would like to.
