Since 2010, JL Dance Academy has supported hundreds of dancers from our purpose-built Ripley studios. We are professionally run, with experienced teachers, clear systems and a strong focus on safe practice, technique and genuine student development.
About JL Dance
High standards, carefully run
Our teaching team is highly trained and experienced, with appropriate qualifications, insurance, DBS checks and First Aid training. We regularly review our systems, policies and teaching practice so families know what to expect and dancers can train safely.
That structure supports both recreational dancers and students aiming for vocational training. Whether a student wants an enjoyable weekly hobby or hopes eventually to pursue professional training, the same emphasis on safe practice, strong technique, progression and high-quality teaching underpins everything we do.

Recreational dancers and vocational pathways
JL supports serious technical development while still valuing the children who train once a week because they love to dance.
Vocational progression
Students trained at JL have progressed into full-time vocational and professional performing arts education at institutions including Elmhurst Ballet School, Wilkes Academy, Performers College, Laine Theatre Arts, Addict Dance Academy, Emil Dale Academy and Stella Mann College.
Competitions and festivals
JL dancers have achieved gold medals, trophies and awards at dance competitions and festivals, including events affiliated with All England Dance and the British and International Federation of Festivals.
Since 2010 hundreds of children and young people from across Derbyshire have found their passion for dance at JL Dance Academy
