In class

Classes include warm-up, technique, travelling phrases, expressive choreography, and work on movement quality and musical detail.

Progression

Lyrical supports show work, competitions, festivals and broader theatre dance training, especially alongside Ballet, Modern Jazz and Contemporary.

What to wear

Comfortable fitted dancewear is best so dancers can move safely and teachers can see alignment. We will advise on uniform after enrolment.

Common questions

Does my child need Ballet before Lyrical?

Ballet can help, but it is not always essential. We will advise on the right class based on age, confidence and experience.

What makes Lyrical different?

Lyrical focuses on musical connection and storytelling, often blending softer technique with expressive performance.

Classical Ballet Our ballet classes follow the ISTD syllabus and focus on grace, strength, posture, and technique. A beautiful foundation for all dance styles. Modern Jazz We follow the ISTD Modern Theatre syllabus but refer to it as Modern Jazz. This dynamic style blends lyrical, jazz, and contemporary movement for strong, expressive dancers. Contemporary Contemporary dance encourages freedom of movement, floor work, and storytelling. Great for creative expression and emotional connection to music.
