Photography, filming and digital communication
JL keeps promotional images and marketing as separate choices from ordinary enrolment. We use official communication routes, respect a child who does not want to be photographed and never record in changing areas.
Photography and filming
- Teaching or progress-review recording, private event sharing, public JL promotion and press or partner use are treated as separate purposes.
- Public website, social media and printed promotion require an appropriate recorded permission or other clearly explained lawful basis.
- Refusing promotional use does not prevent ordinary class enrolment.
- JL checks current choices, avoids unnecessary identifying details and stores material through appropriate accounts.
- A child’s immediate wish not to be photographed is respected. Recording never takes place in toilets or changing areas.
Images taken by families
Follow the announcement at each event. Where photography is allowed, keep images for personal use, do not distract performers and do not publish identifiable images of other children without their family’s permission.
Official communication
- JL uses email, its website, Class Manager or another named system, and official social accounts or moderated groups.
- Operational class messages are part of delivering the service and are not optional marketing.
- Communication about a child normally includes the parent or carer. Staff do not seek private disappearing-message conversations with children.
- Safeguarding disclosures move to a secure reporting route rather than remaining in a group chat.
Marketing choices
- Marketing email and marketing text or direct message are separate choices and are never pre-ticked.
- JL uses consent or another lawful PECR route and provides a simple opt-out in each message.
- Withdrawing permission affects future use. Material already lawfully printed or shared cannot always be recalled, but JL will stop new promotional use where practical.
Legal and guidance basis
These sources explain the legal or official-guidance background. Not every practical JL rule is imposed by a particular Act: where it is JL’s own rule, it is written to be clear, proportionate and consistent with the sources below.
